Authorities with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office report that the crash occurred Thursday morning along State Highway 81, in the 5000 block. At approximately 5:30 a.m., Jaykub was driving a 2012 Peterbilt quad axle milk truck westbound when the vehicle left the roadway under circumstances that are still being investigated.
After departing from the highway, the truck is believed to have traveled through a roadside ditch before continuing toward an abandoned quarry. The vehicle then went over the edge and fell into the quarry below, resulting in severe impact damage. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but Jaykub was pronounced deceased due to the extent of his injuries.
